Atrocity can't be allowed to cover for bad economics

On a day when Alan Greenspan needs more information, there was fortunately on your editorial page Paul Krugman bringing some coherence, logic and fairness to the economic discussion. Cuts in the capital gains tax is the one-note song that has been played for years by the Bush camp, in every political and social climate.

We do not need more tax breaks for the wealthy; we need to rebuild New York and Washington, secure the country and address the damaged economy.

I really hope that the atrocity committed on this country does not become cover for bad economics.
